On Valentine’s day: All about love

Dear mamas,

This is not your traditional Valentine’s Day post.  We are all inundated with proclamations of love, bouquets of flowers, photos of happy couples and promises of ‘happily ever after’ everywhere we look.  Be it social media, magazines, television, or in-your-face advertising on billboards and bus stops everywhere – I for one find it to be a bit too much.

Instead of the usual route, this year I am celebrating self-love.  I feel the need to remind myself and others to first and foremost, love oneself.  I know I am not alone in saying that often, my needs take a backseat.

This Valentine’s Day is all about remembering to love yourself like you love your loved ones.  Treat yourself as you would treat the love of your life, and revel in the wonderfulness of it all.

RESPECT your true self. Be true, and be you.

TRUST your instincts. Listen to your inner voice.

BE LOYAL to yourself. Stand for what you believe in.

HAVE PATIENCE.  It’s ok not to get it right straight away.  Try again and again, for as many times as you feel the need to.

ENCOURAGE yourself.  Cheer yourself on.  You can do it!

LISTEN to what you and your body need. Do not take yourself for granted.

FORGIVE and forget.  For you are not perfect.

ENJOY.  Practice self-love everyday.  Even if it’s just 10 minutes daily, revel in your ‘me-time’ and do something you love.

Remember, you rock!  Happy Valentine’s Day!
